Welcome to Mt. Helicon!
A Historic Route 66 Landmark in the Making!
Mt. Helicon & Route 66 Beautification
Travelers from all over the world pass through our small town and this is our chance to make a positive lasting impact – through ART!
We are seeking Artist Submissions for a series of outdoor sculpture installations in the historic land once known as Mt. Helicon and along Route 66 (Springfield Rd. in Sullivan, MO). The art sculpures will commemorate the Route 66 Centennial and the Origin Story of our town. In 1854 Rev. Jacob Clark founded his family farm and Sullivan’s first post office on his 440 acres calling it Mt. Helicon after the ancient mountain in Greece where the mythic 9 Muses lived. The muses represent divine inspiration, culture, art and creativity making it a perfect backdrop for Route 66 Art Trail.
Our goal is to showcase the local art talent while retelling the heratage and history of our original founding families on this land. Get involved – Art Sumbissions are open!
